About SaraSara was a 14 month 28 day baby girl who was full of life from the start. She lit up a room whenever she entered and I knew she was an angel from birth. On May 13th 2009 our lives changed forever. I remember the day exactly. I was getting ready for work and my husband (Ritchie) brought Sara into the room. Ritchie left for work and gave Sara a kiss and said, “bye momma I will see you later”. I got Sara dressed and we were off to the babysitter. We pulled up to Vanessa’s house and Vanessa would say, “Sara, Sara, Sara” and she would become so excited. I handed Sara to Vanessa and gave her a kiss and said, “bye momma’s”. Sara looked at me and waved bye, which was more like her brushing her hand against her hair. That was the last time I saw my daughter alive. My daughter went to sleep that day for her nap and never woke up. After Sara’s death Brandon’s mom Lauren contacted me and introduced me to Ashley and the SUDC Program. We still do not have answers to why our daughter passed and so this is what pushes us to raise awareness and funds for the SUDC Program. My husband and I do this not only to keep our daughter’s memory alive but also the memories of Brandon and Katie and all the other kids like them, so that maybe one day we can prevent another child from going to sleep and never waking up. |
